Building Our Community: The Growth of IFFA

Taanshii Friends and Supporters,

As the Indigenous Futures Film Academy (IFFA) continues its journey, I am thrilled to share our remarkable strides since my last entry. Our growth has been a testament to the community's support and the shared belief in our mission: to empower Indigenous voices in film.

Expanding Our Team - We've been fortunate to welcome new staff members with a wealth of experience and passion for Indigenous storytelling and film education. Each new member is not just a staff but a mentor, guide, and advocate for our students. Their diverse skills in film production, education, and cultural storytelling enrich our academy and strengthen our capacity to offer unparalleled learning experiences.

Welcoming New Board Members

Our board has also expanded, bringing in leaders and visionaries from various fields. These new board members are advocates for Indigenous rights, seasoned educators, and acclaimed figures in the film industry. Their guidance is shaping IFFA into an institution that teaches film and embodies the principles of leadership, resilience, and innovation.

Program Development

Behind the scenes, we've been hard at work developing our curriculum. Our programs are being crafted to cater to different skill levels, ensuring that every aspiring filmmaker, regardless of their experience, finds a learning path that's right for them. We're integrating traditional knowledge with cutting-edge film technology, providing a balanced education that respects and uplifts Indigenous heritage.

Fostering Partnerships

Partnerships have been integral to our growth. We've joined forces with organizations that share our commitment to Indigenous empowerment. These collaborations are expanding our reach and allowing us to provide more resources and opportunities to our students. They are essential in our mission to build a global community of Indigenous filmmakers.

Looking Ahead with Excitement

As we approach the launch of our very first programs, the excitement within our walls is palpable. We're not just teaching film but nurturing the next generation of Indigenous storytellers who will revolutionize the industry. Our growth has been rapid but intentional, and we're confident that our direction will leave a lasting impact.

Stay tuned for more updates, including spotlights on our new team members, insights into our programs, and stories of partnerships helping make IFFA a beacon for Indigenous filmmaking. We are just getting started, and the future is bright with possibilities.

Thank you for being part of this journey. Your support, enthusiasm, and belief in our vision make this possible. We are forging a path for Indigenous voices to be heard and celebrated globally.

Warm regards,

Curtis Pilon-Vinish
