An Intro to Indigenous Documentary Filmmaking

Led by renowned filmmakers Nate Gaffney and Desmond Simon from Wabanaki Media, Behind the Lens is a monthly drop-in workshop series designed to introduce Indigenous filmmakers to the early stages of documentary filmmaking. These sessions focus on concept development, pre-production planning, and navigating the documentary landscape with an emphasis on Indigenous storytelling.
Participants will gain valuable insights from guest filmmakers, network with other Indigenous artists, and receive mentorship to help bring their stories to life. Whether you're just starting out or refining your skills, this workshop offers the tools, support, and space to develop your documentary projects in a culturally safe and inspiring environment.
